Where to Eat in Canada - Anne Hardy
Once again, Sandiego Italian Restaurant has been honoured by being included in Anne Hardy's "Where to Eat in Canada." Here is what Anne has to say:
"Emilio and Jana are still doing everything themselves at the San Diego. They came to Collingwood in the first place because they liked to ski. They stayed because they cook Italian and cook it well. that means pasta, chicken and veal -- with a difference. Their lasagne is made with homemade crepes, which are lighter than the usual noodles. Their penne has a rose sauce touched with vodka, their bruschetta is topped with red and green peppers, tomato and eggplant. Their veal marsala is made with dry marsala wine and mushrooms, their chicken is sauteed in a white wine with lemon. Jana makes all the soups (potato with stilton) and all the sweets (kirsch torte, chocolate torte, pavlova, opera cake with meringue and fresh cream). They have excellent espresso and capuccino and first-class biscotti. The wine-list offers all the usual Italian reds at remarkable prices.
Open Monday and Thursday to Sunday 5:00p.m. to 9p.m. Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Licensed. Visa. Book ahead if you can.
